Project Engineer Our Prestigious company based in Stone, Staffordshire is recruiting for a Project Engineer with a strong machining background - with good solid engineering knowledge and experience £50k to £55k per annum - Permanent position Days Monday to Thursday 7.30am - 4pm and Friday 7.30am to 1pm Based in Stone, Staffordshire Working in the automotive, aviation, F1 and marine industries The purpose of the Project Engineer role Lead Engineering Projects Develop Fixturing & Work Holding Solutions Control & Release CNC Programs Oversee Programme Development & Validation Drive Process Improvement & Risk Mitigation Collaborate Cross-Functionally Key Responsibilities for the Project Engineer Engineering & Design Develop fixturing and work-holding solutions for precision-machined components, ensuring optimal stability, repeatability, and efficiency. Work with off-site CAD teams or provide on-site engineering support to design and validate fixture concepts. Apply DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) to assess and mitigate potential failure risks in fixture and process design. Optimise fixture designs for cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and reliability. Programme Control & Process Management Ensure all CNC programmes are revision-controlled, systematically updated, and released in a structured and traceable manner. Oversee CNC programme development, ensuring alignment with project specifications and manufacturing feasibility. Manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and implement structured change processes to track, validate, and integrate modifications effectively. Conduct process validation and sign-off procedures, working with both in-house and outsourced programming teams. Quality & Continuous Improvement Implement DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) and process validation techniques to ensure design integrity. Collaborate with quality teams to ensure that fixturing solutions meet dimensional accuracy, tolerance, and performance requirements. Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for any machining or fixture-related failures. Utilise Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Collaboration & Communication Liaise with customers, production, and design teams to ensure smooth project execution from concept to final production. Provide technical support and guidance to shop-floor teams regarding machining processes, fixture utilisation, and work-holding best practices.
