- open up reception area - log on front and back reception computers - check for incoming faxes - check and enable surveillance video equipment as necessary - unlock script and notes cabinets - unlock patient access entrance - empty letter box - check stationery at front desk - check doctors rooms have correct signs on doors - update daily Duty Doctor / WiC info on the whiteboard in reception - telephone patients listed on computer systems re results/letters - tidy waiting room and leaflets Evening Patient Support Receptionists Daily Tasks - check any notes for next morning surgery - close down the reception area - log off front and back reception computers ensuring that all users are logged out of clinical system - enable any answer phones as necessary - lock script and notes cabinet - ensure patient access entrance is locked and automatic mechanism is disabled - undertake security checks of consulting rooms Weekly Patient Support Receptionist Duties Check travel box and make appointments as necessary Administration - To have thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures - To work in accordance with written protocols - Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and update as necessary - Fax and photocopy as requested Reception - Receiving patients, consulting with members of staff - Handling completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address - Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary Appointments - Process requests for appointments today and in the future from patients by telephone and in person - Deal with visit requests Computer - Process patients change of address-computer data and medical records (have knowledge of Practice area - Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines Telephone - Have working knowledge of telephone system, during and after hours Other Tasks - Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm - Any other tasks allocated by Senior Receptionist / Shift Leader
