Quality Inspector - Precision Engineering
Location: Simonstone
Working Hours: Mon-Thurs 07:30-16:15, Fri 07:30-12:30
Salary: £14.30 p/h
The Role
This position is working in my client's nuclear facility, where you will be working closely with internal and external customers to support all inspection operations and ensure operational objectives are fulfilled in compliance with company procedures & Nuclear Standards and Regulations.
Main Responsibilities
1. Perform inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies, or finished company products according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical, and/or electrical measurements.
2. Coordinate inspection activities and manage related project inspection functions.
3. Enforce safety and quality requirements.
4. Rework or reject subassemblies or finished products as required.
5. Accurately document the results of inspections and testing.
6. Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
7. Coordinate calibration of all test equipment and fixtures.
8. Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
9. Participate in the construction and/or revision of procedures for the inspection function.
10. Assist in writing and updating inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists.
11. Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervise.
12. Work with project engineers and Quality Assurance to resolve issues.
13. Perform review of history records and other documentation for compliance with established procedures and good documentation practices.
14. Attend meetings as directed by the General Manager/Senior Quality Engineer.
15. Undergo ongoing training and professional development.
16. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role that may be required for effective and efficient running of the Company.
17. Be conversant with inspection techniques and evaluate the latest equipment and techniques utilized in Integrity practices.
The Candidate
1. Must be qualified in an engineering discipline.
2. Experience of inspection in a precision engineering environment.
3. Desirable to have experience in the nuclear industry.
4. Solid background of technical understanding.
5. Working knowledge of measuring instruments.
6. Knowledgeable of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
7. Desirable to have ASME PED knowledge.
8. Experience with process improvement.
9. Ability to read engineering drawings and quality plans.
In order to comply with Nuclear Standards and Regulations, candidates must be UK Nationals only (No Dual Nationality can be considered for this role). All candidates, prior to commencing employment must be: DBS Checked, Pass Drugs and Alcohol Test, Pass Pre-Employment Medical Questionnaire.
