We offer highly regarded health services, employing some 10,000 staff. Our ambitious £250m estates programme is well on the way to delivering state-of-the-art facilities over the next two years to meet the current and future healthcare needs of the populations we serve.
In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with over seven miles of sandy beaches, you’ll find inspirational opportunities to achieve your perfect work/life balance. With the New Forest and the Purbecks on our doorstep, we’re also less than three hours from London by road or train. We especially welcome applications from minority groups in the community who may be underrepresented in our workforce.

Job overview
The Acute Medicine Directorate at UHD are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our expanding and dynamic Acute Medicine team. These are middle grade level posts offered as specialty doctor contracts (10 PAs).
We have a strong education and training ethos with a wealth of experience amongst our Consultant team in Senior Educator roles, locally, regionally and nationally and are committed to providing an enjoyable and supportive training environment. Successful candidates will be fully supported to gain the experience and competencies needed to progress through a CESR application, which would allow them to become a future Consultant in Acute Medicine.
UHD has Acute Medical Units (AMU) on both the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) site and the Poole Hospital site, and medical takes will continue at each site over the next 2 years. The Acute Medicine Directorate at UHD have seen rapid change and improvement in their SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care) models over the last year and now with new investment are looking to build on this and progress our transformation journey towards the Major Emergency Site model that was agreed in the Dorset Clinical Services review. With additional recruitment of more senior Doctors to the existing team of 14 Consultants, we are looking to progress our development towards 12 hours a day, 7 days a week SDEC provision.
