This is an extremely exciting opportunity for Band 4 Recovery Trainer within the Recovery and Wellbeing College. The Recovery and Wellbeing College is the first co-produced, peer-led service in the NHS in Wales and sits within Mental Health services. The College offers an educative setting for our students who include service users, people with lived experience, family members, carers, and professionals, to develop knowledge and skills to support with mental health challenges and overall wellbeing. The 3 guiding principles of the College are hope, control, and opportunity, and these are fundamental elements of both peer support and co-production.
The successful candidate will work within the Recovery College to promote, develop, and embed the principles of recovery-oriented practice across the organisation, assist in the co-production of design and delivery of a range of recovery-focused courses and workshops for our students. This role will involve undertaking one-to-one individual learning appointments to help students identify and overcome any specific learning challenges and discuss their specific goals in relation to their involvement with the Recovery and Wellbeing College. This will also involve an awareness and use of Health & Wellbeing plans across all sectors within the College. The role will involve intentionally sharing the knowledge from own lived experience, inspiring hope and belief in others that recovery is possible.
Main duties of the job
1. To work within the Recovery and Wellbeing College to assist in the co-production of design and delivery of a range of recovery-focused courses and workshops for service users and their supporters and staff.
2. To work within the spirit of co-production and co-delivery for all presentations & courses.
3. To work closely with the Service Lead for Recovery, the Clinical Leads and other Service Leads, Recovery and Wellbeing College Development Group, staff Trainers, and the Peer Lead to promote, develop, and embed the principles of recovery-oriented practice across the organisation.
4. To participate in developing and coordinating the training development needs of Peer Support Workers within the UHB.
5. To increase the awareness and use of Health & Wellbeing plans across all service lines.
6. To co-design, deliver, evaluate, and register accredited programmes/courses within the Recovery and Wellbeing College.
7. Through sharing the knowledge from own lived experience, inspire hope and belief in others that recovery is possible.
8. To support the Recovery and Wellbeing College in assisting the co-production of design and delivery of a range of recovery-focused courses and workshops for service users and their supporters and staff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

1. Delivery of Learning and Development Activities:
* To co-deliver a range of complex and sensitive recovery-focused courses/workshops/1:1 sessions for service users and their supporters.
* To be involved in developing written training support material for new courses as well as updating existing materials to reflect changes to procedures and policies within the Recovery and Wellbeing College.
* To support the evaluation of the Recovery and Wellbeing College training programmes and contribute to ongoing design of further programmes.
* To co-facilitate courses with other Recovery Trainers relating to subjects which may be sensitive.
* To work with Recovery and Wellbeing College staff to ensure quality assurance of all courses and training.
* To work within a coaching paradigm and adhere to the core principles of an educational approach in all courses.
* To identify and address additional learning supports that students may need to have to enable them to undertake and complete.
* To identify and implement risk/safety assessment and management strategies where unpredictable dynamics with students may occur and report any incidents to the Recovery and Wellbeing College Peer Lead.
* To work with the diverse needs of the student group (service users, carers, and staff) and to adapt teaching and communication style in response to the audience's level of need.
* To communicate with a range of people on a range of topics and during course delivery that is appropriate to learning.

Qualifications
* Relevant experience plus additional training and/or experience in peer support.
* NVQ Level 4, diploma or equivalent experience.
* Experience as a service user or carer in mental health services.
Experience
* Lived experience of using secondary mental health or addiction services.
* Experience of developing and using plans for managing own recovery.
