Position: Interim Financial Controller
Location: Birmingham Business Park (on-site)
Duration: 3-6 months
Compensation: £300-£400
Your Role
As the Interim Financial Controller, you will take full ownership of financial operations, delivering accurate financial reporting and facilitating key decision-making processes during a critical transitional phase for the business. You will act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, ensuring compliance, optimizing financial processes, and strengthening internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the preparation of management accounts, forecasts, and annual budgets.
* Oversee month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Ensure all statutory reporting obligations (e.g., VAT, tax filings, audits) are met on time.
* Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial controls and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
* Manage relationships with stakeholders, including external auditors, consultants, and tax advisors.
* Prepare and present financial insights and recommendations to the senior management team.
* Oversee the finance team, providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring during the interim period.
* Support broader strategic initiatives, such as process improvements, system implementations, or organizational restructuring.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and commercial acumen to the role, ensuring high standards of financial governance and support for the business during the transitional period.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance position.
* ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or equivalent).
* Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
* Background in a fast-paced and complex business environment, with a proven track record of adding value during transition or change periods.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
* Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Excel.
* Hands-on approach and the ability to work flexibly under tight deadlines.
