About the Role We are seeking an experienced professional to manage payroll services for a diverse range of small and medium-sized businesses in Northern Ireland. You will oversee the complete payroll process for our clients, ensuring accurate administration of their payroll functions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic and a keen desire to continuously learn and develop their skills. Key Responsibilities: Communicate with clients regarding their payroll needs. Maintain an updated list of payrolls to be processed. Enter new employees into payroll software using the necessary documentation (e.g., Starter Checklist, P45). Verify updates to HMRC records, such as tax codes or student loans. Process payrolls accurately and on time, according to client deadlines. Calculate salaries for employees, including deductions for sick pay, holidays, SMP, etc. Address client inquiries related to payroll matters. Make calls to HMRC for PAYE-related issues on behalf of clients. Send payslips, P45s, P60s as requested. Manage year-end processing and ensure timely filing of P60s. Upload pension contributions from employees and employers into the appropriate pension schemes. Complete pension regulator compliance declarations for clients as required. Perform additional duties as needed. Essential Qualifications and Skills: Minimum of three years' experience in a payroll-related role within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau. Experience handling direct client communication and resolving payroll-related queries. Hands-on experience with computerized payroll systems. Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices. Advanced proficiency with IT, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team. Desirable Skills: Familiarity with Sage Bureau Manager or Sage 50 Payroll. Experience with software like Micropay, Thesaurus, or Xero is a plus. Experience with payroll processing in the Republic of Ireland is advantageous.
