A Day in the Life of a Prison to Community Worker:
“Every day is so very different in my role, working within the prison and community and supporting my clients, to not only be prepared for their release, but to be there with them to support them to achieve their goals. The day of release can be a very stressful time and they often tell me how much easier things were for them having someone there. On the day of release, I support my clients to meet with various professionals, support them to claim their benefits, register/attend the GP – go shopping if needed. I then work with an individual intensively for up to 16 weeks working on their recovery and supporting them to link into other support services. The role is very rewarding and comes with great job satisfaction.”
