About Us: Our Secondary School is dedicated to providing exceptional education and support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). Our school is designed to create a nurturing and inclusive environment for young people who struggle in larger mainstream settings. We are situated in a prime location on the Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park, surrounded by opportunities for outdoor learning in the beautiful Cotswolds and Forest of Dean.
Role Overview: We are seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with our specialist teaching staff to support students with SEMH. Your role will be vital in helping our students access the curriculum, develop their social skills and thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the classroom teacher in delivering tailored learning experiences to students with SEMH.
2. Provide one-on-one and small group support for therapeutic work in our dedicated breakout spaces.
3. Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans to help students achieve their personal and academic goals.
4. Develop positive relationships with students, encouraging their confidence and independence.
5. Help create a safe and engaging learning environment that promotes student well-being.
6. Collaborate with other staff members and external professionals to ensure an all-inclusive approach to each student’s development.
7. Participate in outdoor learning opportunities and community engagement activities to help students connect with their local environment.
What We Are Looking For:
1. Previous experience working with children with SEMH or related needs, either in a professional or personal capacity.
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
3. A patient, empathetic and resilient approach to supporting young people in their learning journey.
4. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
