Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our DEXA and Metabolic Medicine booking team at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidates to join our growing DEXA service at RJAH. RJAH is a lead provider for DEXA for a large catchment area and in Autumn/Winter 2024 our service will be expanding with an additional DEXA scanner giving the service two scanners.
The role will predominantly consist of a booking clerk role for the DEXA Team but the ideal candidate will be able to work flexibly across the services.
The successful applicant will have the ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment working within a multi-disciplinary team, and will be able to multitask and prioritise their workload.

Main duties of the job
To ensure that patients appointments are booked according to the Consultants protocols and booking policies and procedures. Enquiries from patients and others are dealt with politely. That medical case notes are available as required throughout the hospital.
Working relationships with: Other HCR staff, Medical and nursing staff, X Ray, Pre op staff, Records staff at other Hospitals, GP Practices.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Deal with patients face to face and by telephone in a sympathetic and welcoming manner.
* Using the Hospital computer (Patient Administration System) and other NHS systems including Royal Shrewsbury PAS, to: Record and amend details of patients accurately on PAS, Book outpatient appointments and generate confirmation letters, Cancel and reschedule clinic appointments as requested by patients or consultant staff.
* Prepare all necessary paperwork for outpatient clinics.
* Send appropriate paperwork to patients relating to appointments.
* Answer routine telephone enquiries from patients and other members of staff.
* Contact patients by telephone to book or confirm appointments.

Qualifications/Training
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience
Experience
* Experience in an office environment. Use of computers
* Competent in Microsoft Office

* Able to sort accurately into numerical and alphabetical order
* Ability to utilise electronic patients and other databases
* High level of verbal and written communication skills
