OLG are currently hiring a Head of Mechanical & Piping
Your responsibilities will include the following:
1. Sourcing and executing work for the department
2. BID management, completion of tenders and building of cost estimates
3. Continuous monitoring of staff requirements
4. Attracting and retaining talent through effective recruitment, mentoring and training
5. Monitor progress of jobs within the department, ensuring they deliver to the required quality, timescale and budget
6. Monitor progress and performance of all personnel within the department to assure quality of work product and ensure continuity of design methods
7. Training and competencies of department personnel
8. Initiate, review, and approve routine performance appraisals
9. Demonstrate customer focus
10. Be a technical expert, setting design specifications on projects and driving technical assurance and safety by design
11. Ensure OLG Engineering procedures, specifications, standards, technical guidance and work instructions are followed
12. Review and approve timesheets, holidays and expenses for departmental personnel
13. Working closely with other departments, including the fabrication and operations teams
14. Undertake inspection reports
15. Undertake Constructability reviews and review design risk registers to ensure safe efficient designs are delivered by OLG Engineering
16. Act as client’s engineer and technical authority
17. Provides technical support to Project group
18. Attends to internal review activities and inter-discipline check meetings
Key Skills (e.g. relevant qualifications, experience, knowledge):
1. Evidence of work winning
2. Experience of working in a multi-discipline environment and an EPC environment
3. Ability to estimate design & engineering hours and fabrication & installation budgets
4. Proven track record of building & retaining dynamic engineering teams
5. Proficient in design using tools such as Autocad Plant 3D, creation of cats and specs, Navisworks Manage / Clash detection and chairing model reviews
6. Good working knowledge of AMSE codes B31.3 / 4, standards & specifications. BS EN 13480, PED / PER
7. Minimum of 10-15 years post graduate training
8. Chartered With IMechE with a design engineering bias
