Job Title: CMM Operator
Location: Redditch
Pay Rate: £16.58 per hour
Shift: Weekend Days
Hours: 5:30 am – 6:00 pm (12-hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid break)
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented CMM Operator to join our Machining Division. In this role, you will play a key part in upholding product quality by using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure products meet both customer specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate CMM machines safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols.
* Perform precise measurements and inspections to guarantee component quality.
* Ensure "Right First Time" quality by minimizing rework and improving machine utilization.
* Complete "First Off" inspections and provide feedback on potential CNC offsets.
* Verify measurements with both CMM and manual equipment, including CAD-based tools.
* Maintain daily check sheets, batch traceability, and high housekeeping standards.
* Create and update probe and DAT files, and conduct verification using Master Artefacts and Master Parts.
Candidate Profile
* Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
* Flexibility to work independently and across shift patterns with minimal supervision.
* Forklift truck and/or overhead crane certification preferred, or willingness to train.
* Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and in PC-DMIS software.
* Level 1 CMM experience or equivalent understanding of CMM principles.
* Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and a technical mindset.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork.
