Axcis Education are seeking an experienced 1-1 social and behavioural Teaching Assistant to work with a year 7 pupil with social, emotional, mental health needs and challenging behaviour. The role will be working 1-1 alongside the pupil to encourage them to remain in class and engage in lessons. The pupil has SEMH and is very energetic. He is a flight risk, so the ideal candidate for this role must be fit, energetic and able to encourage sensible choices. Being a strong communicator, negotiator and calm person are traits required for this role. The child has an (EHCP) education, care, plan and their will be a risk assessment put in place. The school is a large Special Educational Needs school in Dawlish with huge grounds, resources, and amazing staff, who are all keen to help you get settled in. The school provide forest school, speech and language therapists, therapy dogs and apprentice schemes. There is a car park on site or bus and train routes easy to get to. The student needs to build a relationship with you to support their development and confidence. Over time the goal is to minimize the amount of outdoor time the child needs and remaining in class with peers and teachers. This will be a long-term goal but if achievable this could be a long-term job role. The ideal candidate must be available Monday to Friday, 5 days a week commencing work at 8:45 to 3:45.
