Description
The North East Wales Emergency Duty Team (NEWEDT) is the first point of contact for people in crisis who require the intervention and support of social services outside of normal office hours. Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) and Experienced Social Workers in the NEWEDT undertake and co-ordinate crisis interventions, ensuring the best outcome for children and adults until daytime colleagues can take over.
We work closely with other agencies such as the Police, A&E, North Wales Ambulance Service, and GPs. The AMHPs and Social Workers in the team cover all areas and service user groups, including children and adults at risk, foster placement breakdowns, vulnerable adults in police custody, people experiencing crisis in their mental health, and older people who require services to keep them well and safe.
We are looking to recruit two full-time workers and require Approved Mental Health Professionals and/or Experienced Social Workers to join an experienced team of EDT staff from various backgrounds. It is highly desirable for you to be an AMHP or an experienced child protection Social Worker. You will need to be enthusiastic, imaginative, and creative in your approach to problem solving. In return, you will receive robust support from colleagues and managers within the Service.
The NEWEDT covers the areas of Flintshire, Wrexham, and Denbighshire, so there is the opportunity to work with various demographics and in both rural and urban settings. The shift pattern offers flexibility - you will be one of four staff on duty at our busiest times and one of two at the less busy times.
