The Role
We are looking to recruit an Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Specialist, to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at NHS Lanarkshire.
The successful candidate will play a lead role in providing strategic and operational direction and advice to NHS Lanarkshire, on all matters relating to the prevention and control of infection.
The post holder will:
* Lead the development and improvement of standards and quality of patient care, in relation to infection control practices.
* Provide direct clinical supervision, management and leadership to the Infection Prevention and Control Nursing Team.
* Provide a comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control Service to NHS Lanarkshire.
* Work with the NHSL comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control Management Team and Executive Directors to assure delivery of the NHSL comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control Strategy.
* Work with the relevant teams to develop and implement an annual work programme and report based on national priorities.
The Infection Prevention and Control Clinical Nurse Specialist is a senior member of the comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control Team and has a lead role in developing and maintaining strategies for the prevention, surveillance and monitoring of healthcare-associated infection.
Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence is required for this post.
Band 7 / Permanent / Full Time / 37 hours
Shift pattern and location:
* Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm
* Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm
This post will be based across 3 acute sites:
* University Hospital Wishaw
* University Hospital Monklands
* University Hospital Hairmyers

What we'll need you to bring
* First Level Registered General Nurse with a broad range of clinical nursing experience
* Operating at Masters level
* Recent evidence of continued academic and/or professional development
* Specialist Nursing Qualification in Infection Control and relevant experience in the specialism.
* Proven management and leadership experience
* Well-developed influencing skills combined with a facilitative and supportive style of working
* Excellent presentation and communication skills
* Demonstrable problem solving and change management skills
* Self-motivated, able to work without supervision, using own initiative to complete tasks
* Experience in teaching and research processes
* Excellent Team working/leadership skills and the ability to motivate others and work on own initiative.
