We are currently working with a Large Public Sector body in recruiting for an Assistant Scientific Officer.
The duties of the post are likely to include the following:
1. Collection, sorting and opening of DU post, recording any non-conformance's on and alerting the duty SO.
2. Data input (logon) of clinical samples into the DSIB DU Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Clear labelling of samples.
3. Carry out a broad range of clinical chemistry techniques on dry chemistry analyser, ICP instrument and wet chemistry techniques.
4. Spinning down and preparation of blood samples for further testing of serum or plasma
5. Ability to work as part of a team delivering diagnostic results within specific time schedule
6. Adherence to health and safety regulations for chemistry laboratories
7. Maintenance of laboratory records.
8. Disposal of laboratory waste and responsibility for routine cleanliness, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
9. Any other duties as required to maintain compliance with the designated testing laboratory criteria.
This list is not exclusive and the successful candidate will be required to carry out other duties as allocated by management.
Requirements:
* A minimum of 5 GCSE's including a science subject
* A general science background would be beneficial
* Experience of working in a laboratory environment would be beneficial
* Effective communication skills
* Ability to work as part of a team
