A bit about the role This is an exciting opportunity to join Action for Children as a Finance Business Officer on a Permanent Contract. You will play a key role in the delivery of a professional finance business partnering service to stakeholders in central infrastructure departments, primarily the Technology, Estates, Finance, Chief Executive’s Office and People directorates, supporting them to understand their financial position, and manage and achieve their budgetary targets. The role will work with and support the Senior Finance Business Partner in all areas required to ensure delivery of this service to all stakeholders. How you'll help to create brighter futures by Review and analyse monthly income and expenditure data for specific activity areas covered, to identify and investigate variances and identify performance trends. Report on findings to budget holders and senior Finance colleagues, and suggest measures for improvement where required. Manage the preparation, to agreed timelines and accuracy, of month end journals for assigned areas. Identify and contribute to improvement plans aimed at reducing the processing time for financial transactions, and improving the content of reporting. Working with key stakeholders to produce and improve monthly reporting packs, including clear monitoring of performance against budget and forecast for allocated stakeholders. Supporting budget holders in allocated areas with preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets. Participate at stakeholder meetings to professionally represent the finance function and to clarify reports produced relating to spend versus budget. Provide commentary and inputs into stakeholder business cases and ensuring the financial data within all business cases is robust and reliable. Utilise agreed financial and reporting systems to track costs and projected savings against relevant projects and business areas. Work collaboratively with finance colleagues to ensure information from allocated areas is available in a format which can easily fit into any financial reports and models being produced. Let's talk about you CCAB Qualified or equivalent or demonstrable alternative experience. Experience of providing a finance business partnering service in a large, complex organisation. Demonstrable experience of producing management accounts and working confidently with budget holders across a range of functions within an organisation. Knowledge and experience of working within a large Finance team with clear understanding of your role within the team. Excellent interpersonal skills sufficient to establish, build and maintain relationships. Ability to provide challenge and critique to reports in an appropriate way. Financial analysis skills and able to interpret financial data. Excellent numeracy and literacy. Ability to utilise business intelligence and financial accounting and reporting systems (Oracle preferable). Demonstrable ability to utilise Microsoft Outlook packages, in particular Excel to advance stage, to analyse large data sets. Demonstrable positive attitude and willingness to embrace change. Self-organised and able to manage conflicting deadlines. Good communication skills and able to communicate to a wide range of business users Experience of charity / not-for-profit sector (preferable).
