Commercial Services are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. Our Commercial Risk & Compliance Manager is responsible for providing objective and independent risk advice and assurance on the commercial services risk management framework, including the overall responsibility for the capital delivery assurance partners. You will continually improve and enhance the control framework to advance commercial enterprise-wide compliance performance and reduce risk, alongside providing assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of controls. Where you fit in: As our Commercial Risk & Compliance Manager, you will: Lead and manage the Commercial Services risk and controls framework (RACM) and be responsible for the integrity of the Risk Register & Management Book that informs the department of key risks. Present all Commercial Risk Management reports and updates, ensuring that all communication is appropriately impactful, balanced and address the root cause issues identified providing assurance, setting out clear recommendations that add sustainable economic value. Formally undertake commercial investigations in a professional manner, seeking support or feeding into Internal Audit, in line with the Speak Up Policy and Process and/or working with HR in line with the Conduct Policy. Be responsible for overseeing the risk management and assurance programme for capital and non-capital to assess supplier health status and financial stability, reporting on industry intelligence to the Manager of Commercial Assurance highlighting key emerging risks and opportunities, such as ESG and sustainability assurance reporting requirements. Provide risk management training to the business to ensure that business targets and objectives are met in relation to the capital and non-capital programmes. Design the annual compliance monitoring programme for capital and non-capital partners with a clear delivery plan and resource requirements. Liaise with the wider business such as the Capital Framework Manager to determine annual assurance consultation budgets and Group Risk Team to ensure the Strategic and Tactical risk register is up to date and represents the true risk management landscape. Support the sustainability team with YWs modern slavery and sustainability objectives by managing a commercial risk specialist who will be the lead interface on behalf of the commercial function to facilitate engagement with the supply chain. What skills & qualifications you will need: To be qualified to at least Degree Level. Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver high quality outputs and effectively communicate reports to senior management. Be able to analyse and challenge existing frameworks, processes, and controls. Knowledge and understanding of Corporate Governance. Excellent knowledge and experience of commercial risk management, and a deep awareness of the inherent commercial risks and opportunities. Comprehensive knowledge and experience of auditing techniques and best practice. You will also benefit from having: A membership of a professional chartered body (e.g. Accounting, Engineering, CIPS, IIA) Experience in managing third party consultants, required to support the delivery of complex commercial audits. Knowledge and understanding of policy, procedure and processes and the impact on the business. Experience of implementing change initiatives and effectively working within a team to drive performance improvements.
