Post No. POSN001588 - Business Support Administrator Full-time/Part Time Post – hours and days to be discussed at interview. We are looking to appoint full and part time Administrators to work in the Business Support Team within Social Services which cover both Children/Young People Services and Adult Services in Newport City Council. Newport City Council strives to support and protect children to stay at home with their families in a safe and caring environment. Sometimes families need additional support from Children’s Services and other services to help them build and maintain healthy relationships. Adult Services are there to help and support vulnerable adults, their families, and carers who struggle with daily tasks due to illness or disability. These services aim to help individuals maintain their independence at home or find suitable residential or nursing care, day services, carer support and more. The role of administrator within the team is varied and your days will be spent carrying out several administration tasks, for example co-ordinating and minuting meetings, raising orders, inputting to databases and making payments. There is no ‘type’ of person we are looking for. No matter your background, if you have excellent problem-solving skills, a good eye for detail and effective time management skills, you’ll have all the makings of an excellent administrator. We are looking for those who are keen to develop their existing knowledge and experience and who want to learn new skills. The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines is also required. If you are organised, methodical and pro-active, you already have some of the key skills we are looking for. You will have experience of using all Microsoft Office packages, a high level of accuracy, and it would be expected that the successful candidate would handle all information received with tact and discretion, and in accordance with Data Protection requirements. Staff in this team work both independently at home and also in the office in the Civic Centre in Newport. The successful candidate must therefore be able to manage their time effectively, prioritise tasks, and complete their work within timescales. You will need to have a suitable and quiet area at home to work in. Free parking during office hours is provided for staff who work in the Civic Centre. We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English. An application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English. Newport City Council is committed to working towards its workforce being more representative of the population that we serve and particularly welcomes applications from people from minority ethnic communities represented (or living) in the city. Selection will be made on ability and skills to undertake the role. Newport City Council is not currently supporting applicants with sponsorship for right to work. In applying for a vacancy, applicants should already have the right to work in the UK.
