Cabinet Office Security & Resilience Team The Cabinet Office Security & Resilience Team is the hub for implementing Security policy and operations within the Cabinet Office. Its remit covers providing advice and guidance to Business Units and individuals by acting as the central focus for wider security operational and policy issues affecting the entire department. The Vetting Team works within the Security and Resilience Team and is responsible for overseeing National Security Vetting (NSV) across the Cabinet Office as a department. The team works closely with United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and Government Security Group (GSG) to ensure that all applications are processed efficiently and in accordance with the relevant NSV policies. This is an exciting opportunity to manage daily operations within the Vetting Team where you will be responsible for managing a team in delivering vetting services to a diverse customer base. The team places a high priority on customer service, networking and stakeholder management. This is a fast paced post which requires problem solving and a customer service mindset. Job description Lead on managing daily vetting operations, providing advice and direction to the team to support consistent and efficient completion of NSV applications. Ensuring work within the team is prioritised effectively to deliver a timely service for vetting applicants and holders. Responsible for the clearance transfer process, including decision making on low risk cases. Delivering briefings to applicants prior to granting clearances, ensuring applicants are aware of their responsibilities whilst holding a clearance. Direct line management of five EO Vetting Officers, taking a proactive approach to improving team members skills, performance, personal and career development and wellbeing. Managing 2-3 seasonal Surge Staff members ensuring training and support is provided. Responsible for assessments, ensuring returns are made efficiently and escalating any complex requests to Senior Vetting Manager. Escalation point for complex queries from the Vetting mailbox. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Be a subject matter expert in National Security Vetting and contribute to CO Personnel Security and Vetting Policy development. Person specification The role of Assistant Vetting Manager will suit a person with an operational delivery background, Security/HR professional, experience of working within the national security community or in a case management environment. While knowledge of the NSV process is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite for the role. The successful post holder will be required to line manage a high performing team, multitask and deliver an excellent service for the Cabinet Office.
