Main duties of the job
We'd like you to join us as a Staff Nurse (Mental Health) at our Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre. At Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre, we offer rehabilitation, care, and support to people with a brain injury or other neurological condition. We're committed to helping every person we support feel safe, happy, empowered, enabling them to live the best life possible. We provide a psychology-led multi-disciplinary treatment model to deliver a high quality, specialist service for people who have a neuro disability or acquired brain injury. This role will be working in Millwood Unit, a Rehabilitation Unit delivering a programme following brain injury to enable them to become as independent as possible (14 beds).

Job responsibilities
What you'll be working:
We're flexible, so you'll work a total of 38.5 hours per week, days & nights on a rota basis.
What you'll be doing:
* To give care and support to individuals with physical and cognitive impairments as a result of brain injury or other progressive neurological conditions.
* To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker (with facilitation) for a defined group of patients/residents and take responsibility for:
* Protecting and supporting the health of individual patients/residents;
* Assessment of care and health education needs;
* Development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
* Under supervision, to gain experience and skills in:
* Clinical practice;
* Facilitation and teaching;
* Management (as appropriate).
* To take charge of the ward/department/unit in the absence of senior nursing staff following performance review.
* To adopt a flexible approach to hours of duty, in order to meet the needs of the service over a 24-hour period.
* To maintain standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with Infection Prevention Control guidance within the clinical environment, minimising the risk of cross-infection.
