Responsibilities An opportunity has arisen within the Engineering department for a Product Engineer, reporting to the Product Engineering Team Leader. This role offers a chance to develop a comprehensive understanding of our Engineering processes and make a significant impact on our operations within Howmet Exeter. Purpose: To develop, implement and maintain best practice through all product engineering activities. To reduce process related scrap and rework. To technically support production of high- quality castings to customers’ requirements Achieve cost effective production of components / Processes and qualifications Manage programmes and execute engineering project assignments. Key responsibilities: Ability to apply comprehensive understanding of production planning, control and basic manufacturing systems. Proficiency in using CAE tools for CNC machining, CAD, and 3D modelling. Ability to effectively utilise quality tools in practical applications. Clear and effective communication with customers, internal staff and suppliers. Active contribution to departmental team objectives and collaborative work environment. Effective management of individual part programs. Application of Six Sigma/DMAIC methodologies to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive process improvement. Delivery of castings that consistently meet customer specifications, minimizing rework and scrap. Continuous improvement of dimensional processes and implementation of effective process controls. Identification and implementation of strategies to reduce costs through workflow optimisation and waste elimination. Preparation of qualification reports, scrap, and rework analysis reports. Effective presentation of data to diverse audiences using visual aids. Adherence to safety standards and maintenance of a safe working environment. Qualifications A minimum of 4 years of applicable engineering experience and knowledge of multi-discipline engineering principles. Degree/HNC or equivalent in Engineering discipline. Working knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and ABS. Proficient in computer applications (MS Office, MS Project, MRP systems). Tooling design and/or CAD experience Injection moulding and/or ceramics processing experience Excellent communication and team working skills. A Meticulous approach with good attention to detail. Excellent organisational and planning skills The ability to effectively present information and deliver presentations as well as the ability to engage with Q&A in a team environment.
