Fire & Security Service and Installation Engineer
Location: Northwest
Salary: £28,000 - £40,000

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Diagnose faults, attend emergency callouts, and conduct routine maintenance on fire and security systems.
2. Install and commission fire alarm, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems for projects of varying scales.
3. Review specifications, drawings, and technical documents to ensure seamless project execution.
4. Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining strong client relationships.
5. Identify sales opportunities during service visits and report potential leads to the relevant team.
6. Complete all required documentation, including job sheets, work reports, and timesheets, in a timely manner.
7. Adhere to health, safety, and compliance policies relevant to the role.
8. Provide technical support to colleagues via phone or site visits when required.
9. Maintain company-issued tools and equipment, ensuring they remain in good condition.
10. Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering best practices and professional development.
11. Ensure all jobs and service visits are completed efficiently and escalate any delays or concerns.
12. Keep system logbooks updated with details of work completed.
13. Attend engineer meetings and training courses as required.
14. Represent the company professionally, adhering to uniform and conduct standards.
15. Work in a cost-effective manner, ensuring systems are left operational where possible.
Person Specification
1. Experience: 2–5 years’ experience in the fire and security industry.
2. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of BS & EN standards and the ability to install, test, and commission various systems.
3. Problem-Solving: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve faults efficiently.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with clients and colleagues.
5. IT Proficiency: Competent in Microsoft Office and experience with programming security and fire systems (e.g., Honeywell, Texecom, Paxton, Morley, Advanced, Kentec).
6. Organisation & Time Management: Ability to manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritise tasks.
7. Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and compliance in a life safety environment.
8. Customer-Facing Skills: Professional and approachable demeanour when interacting with clients.
9. Health & Safety Compliance: Knowledge and adherence to industry safety regulations.
