About the Role
A leading UK development finance institution is seeking a Director of Communications to join its established team. The role will lead a team of three direct reports, matrix-manage six others, and oversee both external and internal communications strategies, aiming to promote and protect the organisation’s mission, development, and investment objectives. The Director of Communications will work closely with key internal stakeholders to align external communications with corporate strategy, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and lead the overall communications strategy and plan, aligning with organisational goals and development objectives.
* Manage media relations and stakeholder engagement, driving a positive external reputation.
* Lead internal communications, ensuring alignment with the company’s broader vision while boosting employee engagement.
* Oversee content creation, marketing communications, and reputation management across various platforms.
* Drive crisis communication strategies, protecting the company’s reputation.
* Manage the communications budget, ensuring effective resource allocation.
* Establish metrics to evaluate communications effectiveness, contributing to strategic planning.
Ideal Candidate
* Proven experience leading a communications team with a strong track record in media and stakeholder relations.
* Expertise in financial services communications, ideally within the buy-side or development finance sectors.
* Experience in responsible investment, ESG, and sustainability communications.
* Strategic thinker with excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
* Strong understanding of digital media, content creation, and brand management.
* Line management experience with the ability to engage and develop a high-performing team.
* Passion for the organisation’s mission and the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
