An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner who is interested in developing this new specialist role within Mental Health Services for Older People's Inpatient wards.
The role will provide specialist assessment, evidence-based intervention, advice and support for service users and carers and families as appropriate to each specialist area of work.
The role will also provide advice and support to professional colleagues on care management of people with severe and unstable mental health conditions and support in providing psychological interventions.
They will need to be skilled in family intervention work and facilitating Open Dialogue network meetings.
Skills emphasis: assessment skills, expert clinical knowledge, ability to apply therapeutic interventions, education and training skills, facilitation skills.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist assessment, evidence-based intervention, advice and support for service users and carers and families as appropriate to specialist area of work. Provision of advice and support to professional colleagues on care management of people with severe and unstable mental health conditions or with dementia and advice and support to care staff on person-centred approaches and psychological interventions. Assist with the implementation and audit of the Mental Health or Dementia Care Advisor role, to support further role development at UHB and All Wales evaluation. Assist with delivery against the Matrix Cymru or The Good Work Framework targets, supporting development of appropriate clinical care pathways, development and delivery of specialist training, undertaking audit activity and outcomes reporting against key performance indicators.
Participate in, make effective use of and provide clinical supervision to enhance own performance and that of colleagues.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential
* First-level Mental Health Nursing or Registered Health Professional, supplemented by a post-graduate qualification or specialist training, experience, short courses equivalent to post-graduate diploma qualification.
* Evidence of professional and management development through Continuous Professional Development.
* Evidence of recent learning and continued professional development at a higher level.
Desirable
* Masters degree in relevant area.
* Relevant postgraduate qualifications - psychological interventions.
Experience
Essential
* Sufficient experience working at Band 5, (or equivalent level in other disciplines), including experience in a clinical area related to care of the older person in a mental health context.
* Experience of interprofessional and multiagency team working.
Desirable
* Experience in Older People's CMHT service or Crisis and Home Treatment Team.

* Well-developed skills in terms of managing clinical scenarios that are complex, challenging and have high levels of emotional content.
