Rolling Stock Modifications Manager
Manchester £300 to £400 per day (Inside IR35) Initial 6-month contract
Opportunity:
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the modification and reallocation of a high-profile fleet. You will work with leading industry stakeholders and manage a critical engineering project that will shape the future operations of these rolling stock units.
Ford & Stanley Interim is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Modifications Manager to oversee the modification and handback of a fleet of rolling stock vehicles. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth handover of the fleet to the leasing company and its subsequent reallocation in the future.
The role will involve managing a series of mechanical modifications to close out contractual obligations and preparing the fleet for its next operational phase.
Key responsibilities include:
* Taking full ownership of the rolling stock modification program
* Ensuring the successful completion of 5-6 mechanical modifications (e.g., bogie adjustments, removal of specific components, addressing underframe-related issues).
* Managing access to the units within the project’s tight timeline.
* Enabling the successful transition to longer unit formations as required by future operators.
Candidate Essentials:
* Rail experience is essential, with a solid understanding of rolling stock engineering.
* Proven track record in project engineering/management, ideally within modifications or fleet handbacks.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Ability to take initiative and work independently to meet deadlines.
