Responsibilities
The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing the resources of the shift to ensure all goals are achieved, including but not limited to safety, quality, production, and cost.
* Oversees training, evaluation, and performance reviews of shift personnel.
* Performs administrative duties as required including maintaining employee attendance records and writing counseling forms.
* Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility.
* Accountable for the safety of all employees through active engagement in safety activities.
* Helps maintain the shift safety program to minimize accidents and injuries.
* Must know blown film, troubleshooting, extruder drives, heaters, and controls.
* Follows quality and production and makes necessary decisions to maintain maximum rates with high quality.
* Coordinates with Maintenance for scheduled shutdowns and repairs.
* Inspects each line and checks the product against job specifications.
* Closes out production work orders and records production on a daily report.
* Reads work orders and checks production reports.
* Verbally communicates with all shift employees and management staff.
* Leads all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management).
* Promotes a safe and productive “TEAM” work environment.
* Completes incident investigations and implements corrective actions.
* Ensures proper training and development of all assigned employees.
* Sets goals for their organizational unit and ensures that all employees work toward achieving them.
* Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and performance feedback.
* Ensures efficient and economical utilization of materials.
* Communicates between shifts and departments to anticipate production concerns.
* Accurately records daily production and submits various reports.
* Maintains good employee relations through effective communication.
* Provides training as appropriate (i.e. toolbox meetings, safety, etc.).
* Keeps accurate records, including training and production activities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assigns work and provides technical assistance to meet production schedules.
* Performs daily reviews to determine status against production goals.
* Leads teams and committees as required.
* Reports downtime, efficiency, and production scrap daily.
* Minimizes scrap and maximizes efficiency on each shift.
* Prepares for and monitors product changeovers.
* Packs bottles to support packers during breaks.
* Ensures completion of daily and weekly preventive maintenance.
* Identifies and reacts to various sounds and alarms.
* Provides timely feedback on performance.
* All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
* High school diploma/GED.
* Three years of experience as a production supervisor or two years as a Berry Production Team Leader.
* Minimum of 5 years' manufacturing experience required.
* Must pass a background check and drug test.
* Must be able to monitor quality of machine output.
* Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
* Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms.
* Must follow all department procedures and directives.
* Must perform all duties safely and effectively.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Positive and professional attitude at all times.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, written, and leadership skills.
* Punctual and maintains a good attendance record.
* Uses good judgment and adapts to changes in the work environment.
* Able to define problems and seek appropriate help for resolution.
* Able to coordinate multiple tasks.
