Join a cutting-edge team in Oxford working on transformative free-space Optical communications solutions for critical global challenges. Collaborate with aerospace primes, Space Agencies, and research partners in a fast-paced, award-winning startup environment.
Your Role:
Design and optimise laser communication optical sub-systems, such as telescopes and relays, for extreme environments. Define requirements, perform trade-off analyses, model and validate systems, and serve as the subject matter expert for optical and photonic technologies. Ensure systems meet performance standards and collaborate with suppliers.
Requirements and Skills:
* Expertise in optical system design, modeling, and trade studies using zemax.
* Hands-on experience testing and validating optical systems.
* Proven ability to design for extreme environments and mass-constrained applications.
* Familiarity with complex systems (e.g., telescopes, optical relays) and image stabilisation.
* Knowledge of photonic components such as lasers, detectors, and optical coatings.
