Job summary
An opportunity has arisen in the Adult Medicine (MCEC) Directorate of Darent Valley Hospital for a part time Medical Secretary/clerical assistant in the diabetes centre for a 10 month secondment.
The post holder will be expected to ensure a comprehensive effective administrative and secretarial service to all consultants, specialist nurses, medical staff and their team within the clinical unit to allow the smooth and efficient performance of the service. You will be expected to liaise with the multi-disciplinary team, internal departments and external agencies to ensure continuity in achieving excellence in patient care.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential as the post holder will be expected to be able to communicate effectively and sensitively with a wide range of people including clients, colleagues, sub-contractors and external agencies. The ability to organise meetings, and diary management are essential to this post. Excellent IT skills and previous experience in an office setting are essential.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join the diabetes team to provide secretarial/clerical support.
You will need to work efficiently, effectively and proactively as part of the administrative team. Excellent administration/computer skills are essential as is a good working knowledge of all Microsoft packages. The role includes the use of the trust bespoke dictation system as audio typing of letters will form part of this role.
Good communication skills are required as you will be acting as a point of contact for enquiries from patients, carers, health care professionals, administration staff and external agencies
