Job Responsibilities:
1. Support the delivery of national immunisation programmes including babies, under-fives, flu, shingles, pneumonia, and others as required, administering under Patient Group Directions.
2. Provide support and treatment for patients with complex dressing needs and wound management in line with current evidence-based guidelines.
3. Carry out cervical cytology smear tests and provide women with support and advice as part of a holistic assessment during their appointment.
4. Provide comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, and sun protection.
5. Offer well-person clinics and health promotion programmes, facilitating change by providing holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake, and exercise.
6. Assess problems presented opportunistically by patients.
7. Able to document consultations according to NMC guidelines.
8. Ensure awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral.
9. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.
10. Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines.
11. Perform suture removal.
12. Take ECGs.
13. Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
14. Able to perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines.
15. Assist in the provision of minor surgery, dermatology surgery, and coil clinics.
16. Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).
17. Ensure infection control and cold chain guidelines are maintained in accordance with practice and national standards.
18. Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration and emergency equipment.
19. Maintain confidentiality of information gained at work at all times.
20. Attend staff meetings and ensure effective relationships and communications with the PHCT and other agencies.
21. Support the Practice clinical governance agenda.
22. Support mental health patients and vulnerable adults, offering contraceptive advice and family planning.
