Job overview
As part of the ongoing transformation of neurorehabilitation services across Greater Manchester in-patient services, Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN) is excited to be advertising a static Band 6 Physiotherapy post, based at the Devonshire Intermediate Neurorehab unit (INRU) in Stockport. This post will form part of the transfer, development and expansion of therapy staffing at this highly regarded neurorehabilitation unit by MCCN.
The Devonshire Unit is an independent neurorehabilitation facility based in the vibrant and easily accessible town of Stockport, 8 miles from the City of Manchester and close to the Peak District. It is a 19 bedded unit for the care of post-acute patients requiring ongoing community-based in-patient rehabilitation.
The physiotherapy team consists of 3 Physiotherapists (Band 7, Band 6 and Band 5 (Rotational), and will have the benefit of additional support from a Band 8b AHP Consultant Physiotherapist, who also manages and supports the wider AHP in-patient neurorehabilitation services at Salford.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Band 5/6 physiotherapist with experience in stroke, neuroscience areas, and/or neurorehabilitation to be part of this fantastic, expanding and developing service.
Main duties of the job
* To provide specialist, individualised, physiotherapy interventions for all patients admitted with neurological impairments as a result of illness or injury.
* The role involves clinical, leadership and educational opportunities to develop outstanding evidence-based practice in physiotherapy management of patients with neurological impairments to support participation in functional and vocational activities.
* Excellent communication skills will be required to liaise effectively with treating clinicians, the patient, their family members, community services and other supportive networks throughout the patient pathway.
* To support development of the team and wider neurorehabilitation services to ensure they meet the high standards of excellence and quality being driven across MCCN and the NCA.
* To provide effective and supportive leadership and management of junior staff and the Therapy assistant team at the Devonshire Unit as required.

Minimum Requirements
* Evidence of post graduate training relevant to neurorehabilitation.
* Evidence of clinical theoretical knowledge base and specialist knowledge in assessment and treatment of patients with neurological illness or injury, multiple pathologies and progressive conditions.
* Evidence of excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Basic introduction to Bobath courses.
* Active participation in ACPIN or other SIG meetings and training events.
Experience
* Significant post registration NHS graduate experience including working across core clinical areas.
* Proven NHS experience working with patients of neurological presentation at Band 5 level and above.
* Experience of working as part of a MDT in acute and rehab settings.
* Evidence of supervising other staff and students.
* Experience of working in a community neurorehabilitation setting.
* Evidence of contributing to service development initiatives.
