Are you a motivated and detail-oriented accounting professional with a passion for delivering accurate financial insights? Johnston Fuels is seeking a part qualified Management Accountant to join our busy and collaborative Finance Department on a part time or full time basis (between 30 to 37.5 hours to suit the right candidate).In this critical role, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate financial records across three group companies, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to our business' success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts for three group companies, adhering to group policies and accounting rules.
* Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analysis as part of the management accounts review pack.
* Entry of month-end journals for reporting purposes.
* Reconcile and balance inter-company loan transactions between group companies.
* Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
* Prepare, review, and submit VAT returns in compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Evaluate company performance using key financial data and metrics.
* Support risk management efforts and implement improvements to financial controls and procedures.
* Assist in preparing forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
* Prepare financial year-end accounts and schedules for audit purposes.
* Provide support during the annual statutory audit process.
* Collaborate with the Senior Finance Team to provide assistance on various projects and tasks as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you will have:
* Previous experience as an accountant in an industry role.
* A relevant accounting qualification (desirable but not essential).
* Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* The ability to multi-task and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
* The capability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
* Xero experience would be advantageous.
