About the role: In the role of a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties. Working closely with teachers and SENCOs, you will help create a structured and engaging learning environment that enables all students to achieve their full potential. Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEN. Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs. Support teachers in delivering adapted lessons and resources for SEN students. Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment. Assist with behaviour management, using appropriate de-escalation strategies. Help students with personal care, social skills, and emotional well-being, where necessary. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students. Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and SEN staff. Requirements: Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role. Understanding of special educational needs, particularly in supporting students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language difficulties. A calm, patient, and proactive approach to working with children. Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and students. Relevant qualifications in Education, SEN Support, or Childcare (desirable but not essential). Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
