The role
As a Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role sits within our Cavendish Nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants, our role in Cavendish Nuclear is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply and meeting our net zero commitments.
Day to day, you’ll be responsible for managing the delivery of engineering and technical activities, through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience across our projects.
Key duties:
1. Promote effective co-operation across Engineering and other functional teams
2. Assist in effective management of the customer, through interfacing with customers and supply chain on design issues and assist with procurement specifications
3. Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
4. Contribute to Product Safety Assessment process
5. Provide a technical interface with internal and external stakeholders at a detailed level
6. Carry out technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment/resolution and for design of improvements
7. Contribute to process improvement within the operational and/or design lifecycle to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and asset utilisation
8. Apply engineering domain knowledge to produce technical solutions and documentation in support of assigned task and project
9. Produce, review, verify outputs including: calculations, analyses, technical reports, technical specifications and method statements
10. Ensure appropriate review, verification and approval is undertaken on work performed
11. Plan, deliver and monitor assigned tasks and projects, ensuring requirements are delivered to time, quality and cost
12. Provide support to the Project Manager for the planning, control and delivery of tasks and projects
13. Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
14. Act as Technical Authority or Engineering Lead when authorised to do so.
The role operates on a 37-hour work week and includes hybrid and flexible working.
Essential experience of the Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer
15. Experience in working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams to deliver activities on a range of project types
16. Demonstrable experience in covering a variety of tasks
17. Communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines
Qualifications for the Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer
18. Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline, with demonstrable experience
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain baseline security clearance for this role.
