Job Title: Medical Secretary | Paediatric Ortho Location: The Portland Hospital Permanent, Full time 37.5 hours per week Shift times: Mon-Fri, 9am – 5:30pm Hybrid: 1-2 days WFH once probation is passed. Salary: Competitive We’re looking for a Medical Secretary to join our paediatric orthopaedic team based at The Portland Hospital. As a Medical Secretary, you will be responsible for ensuring the continued provision of the highest quality of secretarial and administrative support to four consultants Duties will include being responsible for the appropriate management of patient appointments, liaising with patients and hospital staff as required in order to facilitate this. You will also undertake any other duties as called upon to carry out by the Practice Manager. Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. What you’ll do: Provide full secretarial support to the Consultants (including audio-typing of clinical/non-clinical material, reports etc.) Responsible for the appropriate management of patient appointments, liaising with patients and hospital staff as required in order to facilitate this Receive new patient referrals and arrange relevant appointments across various hospital departments Register new patients and ensure that all patient records are kept up to date Respond to all written and verbal queries from patients and relatives, escalating to the consultants if required Undertake any other duties as called upon to carry out by the Medical Secretary Manager, Deputy Medical Secretary Manager or Supervisor Liaise with consultants and other secretaries to ensure the smooth running of the Out-Patients Clinics What you’ll bring: Substantial previous Medical Secretarial experience is desirable. Significant understanding of Medical terminology. Experience working in a variety of specialities. Strong attention to detail, accurate typing and letter proof reading skills. Computer literacy. Excellent communication skills. Previous experience of working as a float Medical Secretary preferred. Previous knowledge of DGL Practice Manager and Meditech preferred. Why HCA UK?
