Press Brake Operator Whats the job & who would it suit? We have an exciting opportunity to work as a Press Brake Operator for SSC Laser in Hixon. The main role purpose is to operate an Amada press brake, converting technical drawings provided by the CAD/CAM Engineer, into the desired product specification requested by the customer. The role would suit someone with previous press brake setting experience, but training will be provided to the right candidate. What youll be doing So that you can get a feel for the job, here is what you will be doing day to day: Operating an Amada press brake Setting the press up to suit the material being used to achieve the bend required Ensure the selection of correct material or laser profiles for the job Count parts, bag or stack for packing or subsequent operations Ensure quality checks are carried out and all folded parts are signed off Follow procedures and processes (including ISO 9001:2008) Record job time accurately using internal work operating system Keep work area tidy and machine clean Tooling management and Storage and reporting all defects as and when required Assist other areas of the production facility when required To carry out any other reasonable duties as and when required Senior Press Brake Operators would also: Support and train / upskill other Press Brake Operators Ensure the smooth running of the Press Brake area, whilst maintaining quality output at all times. Oversee the prioritisation of all orders as per their despatch date Oversee jobs on the press brake and supporting and training of less experienced Press Brake Operators when required, to ensure quality and productivity is maintained at all times, whilst fulfilling your departments role in achieving the OTIF What youll need to succeed Need to know Knowledge of how to read technical engineering drawings Knowledge of geometric tolerances and how they relate to the finished part Tolerance of different sheet metals Additional for Senior Operator Able to set and operate all press brakes (including complex jobs) with no supervision How to adapt your approach and style when supporting others Need to have Press Brake setting & Operating experience desirable Experience on Amada press brakes advantageous Experience of folding metal profiles or similar Counter-balance forklift license desirable, training can be provided Additional for Senior Operator Experience of troubleshooting and diagnosing machine issues Experience of training / coaching others Need to demonstrate We have a number of core competencies that we believe are fundamental to both individual and business success. Week 2 - Monday - Thursday 13:45 - 22:15 with 45 minutes of unpaid breaks, Friday 13:00 - 20:45 with 45 minutes of unpaid breaks. Salary: £24,000 £30,000 depending on previous experience.
