Position Description:
The Mergers & Acquisitions Deal Origination Senior Analyst (“Analyst”) is responsible for assisting with prospecting, qualifying, preparing, and marketing client engagements. The Analyst will work directly with the Deal Origination team to support all phases of the deal cycle but will be focused on the prospecting and marketing phases. This role is ideal for finance professionals who wish to grow their talents in business development, investment strategy, deal origination, and negotiation.
Responsibilities:
Supporting the origination and marketing of new client engagements, including:
1. Perform market research, analyzing trends and identifying opportunities for new deals in various industries.
2. Compile prospecting lists and coordinate outreach with marketing tools and resources.
3. Develop pitch presentations to support the Align Business Development team.
4. Maintain the firm’s CRM database by entering, verifying, correcting, and backing up data, including but not limited to:
1. Updating investor profiles with preferences and existing portfolio companies or subsidiaries.
2. Updating company and contact records with interactions and notes.
3. Adding prospective client records and maintain log of interactions notes, etc.
4. Updating prospective engagement status, documents, interactions, and notes.
5. Perform financial analysis of client operations, including but not limited to discounted cash flows, proforma historical and projected financials, calculation, and benchmarking of key operational performance indicators.
6. Conduct qualification analysis on new opportunities through industry research, financial and operational data analysis, conversations with investors and entrepreneurs, etc.
7. Assist the deal fulfillment team with developing key investment highlights for the Confidential Investment Memorandum (“CIM”), ensuring the materials fully depict the investment opportunity, market trends, and unique attributes of the company and its owners.
8. Perform research to identify the overall investment strategy and compile a list of targeted investors for each opportunity using the Company’s CRM system and other informational databases.
9. Synthesize research into succinct investment highlights, risks, and areas for diligence.
10. Preparing internal summary materials to evaluate new opportunities in systemic fashion.
11. Support Deal Origination personnel with administrative tasks such as: facilitation of non-disclosure agreements, follow-up with buyer contacts specific to live engagements, coordinate meetings and data requests with clients and/or buyers.
Support the firm’s directors and leadership by:
1. Recommending actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
2. Increase productivity by developing automated processes and updating company processes and procedures.
3. Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.
4. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications.
5. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
6. Uphold a strict level of confidentiality.
7. Develop and sustain a level of professionalism among staff and clientele.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree required.
2. 2+ years’ experience in investment banking, corporate development, or private equity/venture capital.
3. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills and meaningful prior deal experience, including financial modeling, financial statement analysis, deal structuring and returns analysis.
4. Excellent communications and analytical skills as well as a high level of maturity.
5. Self-starter with a strong work ethic, proven ability to multi-task and resourceful, detail-oriented approach.
6. This is a virtual position (as we are a virtual workforce), so ability to be focused and self-motivated is critical.
7. Interest in taking on many responsibilities and projects alongside a small, nimble, and experienced team.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Annual salary of $70-80,000 plus 40-60%+ bonus directly tied to overall firm performance for closed transactions. Location:
This position is a virtual position, and the Analyst can be based anywhere in the United States, preferably on the East Coast. Align is headquartered in the Orlando, Florida, area but serves clients nationwide.
