Job overview
Responsible for the reprocessing of medical and surgical instrument sets including specialist instrumentation. To ensure that work is performed to an acceptable standard and in compliance with written specifications and procedures.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure that all items are prepared, assembled and packaged in accordance with defined specifications.
2. Undertake the reprocessing of sets entailing disassembly, washing, inspection, reassembly and packaging of the theatre sets.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Prepare and package theatre sets for operations.
2. Undertake the reprocessing of surgical instrument sets.
3. Be able to operate sterilisation equipment.
4. Develop close partnerships with supervisory staff to participate in the co-ordination and processing of the department's workload.
Person specification
* Educated to GCSE level with 3 passes including Maths and English.
* Knowledge of the sterile services workload.
* Knowledge of a wide range of surgical instruments.
* Able to use Microsoft and computer packages.
* Able to work as a team.
* Able to communicate effectively with work colleagues.
