Job summary Facilities Transport Services are looking to recruit class B Driver to help deliver a friendly, prompt and professional service on behalf of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Principal duties may involve the transportation of waste, staff, goods and other various tasks around Trust sites and nationally. Applicants must have good communication skills, a good geographical knowledge of Leeds and Nationwide and must be able to work effectively in a service focused environment. There is also a significant manual handling element and collection of bulk items attached to this post, plus other associated tasks, but training will be provided for these. Please be aware the post will require the applicant to work 37.50hrs a week, days, rotational shift patterns, which can include weekends and bank holidays, in a dynamic and fast moving environment so a flexible working attitude is essential to the role. To maintain vehicles in good working order and use it to maximum efficiency. Reporting faults and breakdowns immediately to the Facilities Supervisor. At the start of each shift carry out the appropriate vehicle checks and complete the vehicle record logs. To complete all relevant daily documentation and vehicle checks in compliance with relevant statutory legislation and local codes of practice and quality control procedures. The post holder must present their driving licence for inspection and recording on an annual basis and promptly report any penalties or points in line with trust policies and procedures. Under take training to operate different vehicle systems. Download tachographs to record your periods of driving, work and rest, plus distance travelled and vehicle speed. Carry out lock up duties of vehicles as required. Challenge individuals in restricted areas who do not have identification and members of staff not wearing ID badges. Assist in promoting initiatives for tackling violence and aggression against staff and health care professionals within the Trust (Zero Tolerance initiative), through innovation, education, prevention and detection routes, along with close working relationships with the security.
