Job Title: Engineering Manager Salary: up to £55,000 dependent on experience bonus Location: Southend on Sea Aeropeople are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager on behalf of our client based in Southend on Sea. Established 20 years ago they are an approved aircraft repair station specialising in aviation wheel and brake services. Their Part 145 EASA/ FAA and TCCA approved workshop offers the space to carry out full testing, inspection, repair and overhaul of the majority of regional, commercial, military and corporate aircraft wheels, brakes, landing gear, freight locking system components, hydraulics, actuators, valves and accumulators. They also have their own Non- Destructive Testing department on site. With their parent company operating in the USA, their customers span the UK to Europe, USA, Canada, Middle and Far East. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Engineering Manager will oversee all engineering activities related to the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft wheels & brakes. This role requires a strategic leader with extensive experience within the aerospace industry and a deep understanding of MRO processes, regulations, and best practices. Daily attendance at the site is required to effectively support the business and ensure project milestones are met. Main Responsibilities: Define and implement the engineering strategy aligned with company goals. Provide technical direction and leadership across engineering projects. Collaborate with other departments (MRO, Compliance & Operations) to ensure alignment on company objectives. Ensure the integration of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in maintenance processes. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (EASA, CAA, TCCA) and industry standards in all engineering practices. Implement best practices for reliability, maintainability, and safety in MRO operations. Support the Compliance Monitoring Department to carry out assessments of additions and continual reviews of the Organisations Capability Listing. Collaborate with executive management to identify opportunities for growth and innovation within the MRO sector. Communicate engineering updates, challenges, and successes to senior management and other stakeholders. Advise on OEM and internal technical training requirements for engineering and support staff as required. Collaborate with customers and regulatory bodies to understand their requirements and ensure satisfaction. Represent the engineering team at industry conferences, trade shows, and client meetings. Benefits: Annual salary of up to £55,000 dependent upon experience Bonus Company pension 20 holiday days plus bank holidays- increasing by 1 day per year up to a maximum of 25 days Death in Service- 3 x annual salary Employee Assistance Programme Career progression opportunities About You: Educated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ Level qualification. Fellow or Chartered Member of an industry related Professional Body Previous professional experience in the relevant engineering discipline. Demonstrable experience of leading an engineering function with a proven track record in strategic engineering leadership delivering effective engineering strategies, policies, processes and systems Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvement. Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of aerospace regulations, safety standards, and quality assurance processes. Proficiency in Microsoft products essential (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook) ERP software experience an advantage.
