Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Host to join the team at the Macmillan Unit. The inpatient ward at the Macmillan Unit provides palliative and End of Life Care to patients with life limiting disease. The successful candidate needs to have good interpersonal skills. Base Location: Christchurch Hospital Interview Date: 14th April 2025 Main duties of the job To assist and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene, in line with Infection Control guidelines and food safety standards, for the meal delivery service. To support the nutritional and social wellbeing of our patients. To assist in the preparation of all patient food services, working in conjunction with the ward and specialist teams to provide a high quality service to patients at the required times ,ensuring that the patients' oral intake is adequately reported to the trained nurse. To assist in providing a professional and friendly environment for the patients. To achieve the operational and timely delivery of a full range of catering services withinthe ward environment. To prepare and serve hot/cold snacks and drinks as requested. In conjunction with nursing staff, to ensure that patients are appropriately positioned inthe bed/chair to be able to eat and drink safely. To keep the patients' beverage area and dining room clean and tidy and restock asrequired. In partnership with the ward cleaner, to take responsibility for the ward kitchen ensuring it is clean and tidy and complies with hygiene requirements.
