Senior Practitioner Psychologist (Counselling or Clinical)
An opportunity has arisen for a Practitioner Psychologist (Counselling or Clinical) to join the Adult Mental Health Speciality in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will support the continued development and provision of specialist psychological services to adults living in South Caerphilly.
The post is advertised as Band 8a, but we would also invite newly qualified applicants with significant past experience to apply and start the role on Band 7. This would be with a clear plan of development to progress to Band 8a and you would be provided with all the experiences and supervision required to achieve this.
The post-holder will be part of a robust psychology team embedded in a CMHT, and the wider 'family' of the adult psychology speciality. You will need to be flexible, creative, and keen to learn. The ability to maintain good working relationships across multiple disciplines and areas of work is essential. This role will provide a chance to focus on an area of clinical expertise or special interest alongside developing broader relationships and partnerships to support service development and evaluation.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a thoughtful and dynamic psychologist who can not only deliver high quality assessments, formulations and interventions but can help others do the same.
The successful candidates would be joining a busy, welcoming CMHT as well as a cohesive Psychology speciality with a commitment to personal and professional development and a robust sense of professional identity. We have interests and highly specialist skills in a range of psychological therapies including CAT, DBT, MBT, EMDR and MBCT and welcome applications from individuals who are keen to further develop their clinical expertise and achieve accreditation in an evidence-based model of psychological therapy.
The South Caerphilly psychology team has particular interests in EDMR, DBT & MBT as well as delivering other evidence based therapies. The wider team are trauma informed and are working to support the delivery of psychologically informed care as well as evidence-based interventions. The team are particularly keen for a Senior Psychologist to facilitate team formulation and lead an element of the clinical service, this role therefore provides a prime opportunity to strengthen leadership skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention in order to support the recovery of working age adults with moderate to severe levels of psychological distress.
They will also support the wider team and Directorate in the development and maintenance of psychological mindedness including working in a trauma and relationally informed way.
We welcome the use of research skills to support audit, research and development.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Undergraduate Degree (in psychology or conversion)
* Graduate Basis for Registration
* Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
* Masters Degree or Post-graduate training
* Accreditation in a model of psychological therapy
Experience
* Experience in training or subsequently of working across the lifespan
* Pre- or post-qualification experience of working with adults with significant MH diffs
* Experience in supervising others.
Knowledge
* Ability to communicate complex information orally or in writing
* Awareness of strategy and policy relevant to mental health
* Welsh language ability
