Purchasing Import Planner Location: Leeds (Office-based) Salary: £34,000 Annual Bonus Type: Full-Time, Permanent A well-established organisation in the chemicals sector is currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Import Planner to join their team based in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity for a supply chain professional with a background in purchasing and importing goods into the UK. The ideal candidate will have experience working with chemicals or hazardous materials and be confident managing the full procurement cycle, from supplier negotiation to customs clearance. If you have the required background and are looking for your next challenge in purchasing and import planning, I’d love to hear from you Key Responsibilities: Raise and manage purchase orders from UK and international suppliers, including those outside of Europe. Coordinate international shipments and import documentation, ensuring customs compliance. Monitor and maintain stock levels, adjusting re-order points in line with demand and company policies. Liaise closely with suppliers, third-party warehouses, and internal departments including sales and customer service. Review and reconcile landed costs, identify variances, and escalate any discrepancies. Ensure all supporting documentation (invoices, bill of ladings, COAs) is accurate and complete. Assist in the handling of hazardous transport procedures (experience desirable but not essential). Maintain accurate administrative and inventory records. Candidate Requirements: Proven experience in purchasing – essential. Strong understanding of UK import regulations – essential. Experience in the chemical or hazardous materials industry – highly desirable. Strong organisational and time management skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Proficient in using ERP systems and Microsoft Office. CIPS qualification – desirable but not required.
