We accept emergency referrals and the team are experienced in managing them quickly and efficiently to ensure the transition for each individual is as smooth as possible. Main duties of the job At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors. We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous clinician, providing specialist assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction. You will hold supervisory responsibility for others, and take a leadership role in specific projects. An integral part of this role will be supporting student education within the team. This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOTs Career Development Framework. Your Role Service Line: Learning Disabilities Summary of the site Cygnet Cedars is a 24-bed high dependency complex care service for men with learning disabilities. Within the hospital is one step-down single occupancy flats. With their own lounge, kitchen, en-suite bedroom and their own front door this allows for further community integration and focus on daily living skills. Each individual in our care begins a personalised care pathway that helps them develop the necessary skills to leave our service and move towards a less restrictive setting. We encourage the men in our care to make their own choices and live as independently as they are able to. Our in-house multidisciplinary team (MDT) supports each individual to achieve their own goals. This offers support from the nursing team, psychology, psychiatry, speech and language and occupational therapy. The occupational therapy team promotes setting realistic goals. By using a person-centred and holistic approach, the team enable the individual to achieve things that are meaningful to them. The therapy programme at Cygnet Cedars offers activities balancing self-care, productivity and leisure. These activities and functional tasks support positive mental health. The team support service users to identify routine, roles, interests and occupational demands. Within this role, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational needs. You will hold supervisory responsibility for others, and take a leadership role in specific projects. As a member of the OT team, you will be supported and work alongside qualified OTs, OTAs and activity coordinators.
