An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated assistant technical officer to join our friendly and dynamic team to provide high quality aseptic services.
You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient-focused service. The prime function of the unit is the preparation of cytotoxic, monoclonal antibodies and clinical trials in a safe and efficient manner according to Good Manufacturing Practice and National Standards. We must deliver the highest quality of services for our patients and are committed to ensuring safe and effective patient care.

Main duties of the job
You will be working within our Aseptic Unit to help provide safe, timely, appropriate high-quality pharmaceutical services.
Main Duties
1. As part of a busy and friendly team, you will be making a range of aseptically prepared products using needles and syringes within a clean room environment and ensuring they are sent to the right ward. You will need to wear clean room clothing and make-up is not allowed.
2. Working with the team, you will assist in the preparation of products for patient administration. You need to be methodical, accurate, able to strictly follow procedures and have an eye for detail.
3. To maintain stock and consumable levels ensuring stock rotation within designated areas in accordance with procedures.
4. To perform general tidying and non-domestic cleaning duties in the department as needed, ensuring the safe disposal of waste.
5. Awareness of COSHH (Control of substances hazardous to health) regulations for the storage handling and disposal of pharmaceutical products.
6. Previous Aseptic experience is desirable although there is a full training package provided that you will be supported to complete.
7. NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services is also a requirement of the role.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

Person specification
Education and qualifications
* English and Maths GCSE grade C or above
* NVQ and Btec level 2 in Pharmacy Services
* Completion of a recognised OTC sales course
Experience
* Experience in hospital pharmacy or other Pharmacy Setting
* Experience in dispensing medications, drugs receipt, record keeping and cold chain maintenance
* JAC trained
* Experience with clinical trials
* Experience with Aseptic preparation
Skills Ability and Knowledge
* Knowledge of Pharmacy working procedures and current drugs legislation
* Working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations including Control of substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
* Good communication skills, written and oral
* Basic computer skills
* Ability to prioritise workload with good attention to detail and accuracy
* Good manual, accuracy and analytical dispensing skills
* Ability to work under pressure
