3rd Line Support Engineer (Microsoft Servers & Cloud)

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join our IT team. You will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of Microsoft Server environments, with a strong focus on Windows Server 2016/2019, VMware hosted in Azure, and O365. As a key escalation point, you will handle complex issues that require deep technical expertise and work closely with other IT teams to implement best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 3rd line support for Microsoft Server infrastructure, resolving escalated technical issues.
* Maintain and optimize Windows Server 2016/2019, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS.
* Manage and troubleshoot VMware hosted in Azure.
* Act as an O365 expert, supporting administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
* Manage and maintain SharePoint environments.
* Monitor system performance, security, and capacity planning.
* Write and implement PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks.
* Apply patch management and security updates to ensure a secure IT environment.
* Assist in server migrations, upgrades, and new system deployments.
* Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and standard operating procedures.
* Present technical reports and recommendations to senior management.
* Mentor and support 1st and 2nd Line Engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and development.
* Work within ITIL frameworks for incident, problem, and change management.
* Report directly to the Head of IT.
Required Skills & Experience:
* At least 5 years of experience in a similar 3rd line support role.
* Strong expertise in Microsoft Server administration (Windows Server 2016/2019).
* Excellent knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
* Hands-on experience with VMware in Azure.
* Deep understanding of O365 administration and troubleshooting.
* Experience working with SharePoint.
* Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation.
* Good knowledge of networking, CCNA or CCNP certification is essential.
* Understanding of backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Veeam, Commvault, or similar.
* Experience managing security updates, patching, and vulnerability mitigation.
* Ability to document work thoroughly.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with Azure services and administration.
* ITIL certification or experience working in an ITIL environment.
Preferred Certifications:
* Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
* VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
* CCNA or CCNP (essential)
* ITIL Foundation Certification
