Stowhealth is an established GP practice in Stowmarket, Suffolk and part of Suffolk Primary Care. We currently have an exciting vacancy for part-time medical secretary, 15 hours per week, Monday and Tuesday, 9am - 5pm. The post-holder will provide secretarial and administrative support to the doctors, practice manager and business manager to ensure the administrative burden for clinicians and team members is minimised. This will require a full range of IT and secretarial skills. Main duties will include: Provide an efficient audio, rarely used now, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, etc. in an accurate and quality manner. Action referrals on SystmOne via tasks, ensuring forms have been completed correctly and sending them either by email or via eReferrals. Establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure. Retrieve medical records and assist the completion of medical and insurance records. Receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries. Maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner. Provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave. Liaise with the clerk responsible, maintain adequate supplies of office stationery in order to perform your secretarial duties. You will have the following skills and experience: A-C GCSE English & maths or equivalent. Experience of working within a GP practice. Experience of using SystmOne. Strong touch-typing skills. Administrative experience and good organisation skills. Sound knowledge of medical terminology. Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times. Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as being comfortable working independently.
