As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator & Procurement Manager to oversee our estimating department, manage a procurement spend of over £800k, and drive efficiencies across our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the estimating department, managing and mentoring a junior estimator.
* Accurately estimate costs for new and repeat sheet metal fabrication projects, ensuring competitive pricing and profitability.
* Compare estimated vs. actual production times to update MRP routers for repeat jobs, improving future quoting accuracy.
* Analyse gross margins to ensure accurate cost allocation and profitability assessment.
* Manage change orders and variations, adjusting estimates accordingly.
Procurement & Supply Chain Management
* Oversee the procurement function, managing an annual spend of over £800k on raw materials, components, and subcontracted services.
* Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating best prices, lead times, and quality standards.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising material quality or production efficiency.
* Work closely with production and engineering teams to align purchasing decisions with operational needs.
* Ensure materials are sourced in line with project deadlines and company budgets.
* Regularly review estimating and procurement processes, implementing improvements for increased efficiency and cost savings.
* Utilise MRP/ERP systems to maintain accurate cost data, job routing, and material forecasting.
* Provide regular reports on estimated vs. actual project costs, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
* Ensure that all procurement activities align with business objectives and operational requirements.
Key Skills & Experience Required
* Experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication Estimating – Strong understanding of sheet metal processes, materials, and cost estimation.
* Procurement Expertise – Proven ability to manage large procurement budgets, negotiate with suppliers, and drive cost efficiencies.
* Team Leadership – Experience managing and developing an estimating team.
* MRP/ERP Systems Knowledge – Ability to update MRP routers, track estimated vs. actual production times, and optimise costing.
* Analytical & Financial Skills – Understanding of gross margins, profitability analysis, and financial reporting.
* Strong Communication & Negotiation Skills – Ability to liaise effectively with suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
* Attention to Detail & Problem-Solving – Ensuring cost estimates and procurement strategies align with company objectives.
