The advanced apprenticeship we offer will develop specialist skills which will lead to you working on some of the most prestigious fabrication projects in the UK. Through partnership with Hartlepool College of Further Education you will be supported by a combined training team to develop a skill level second to none. Qualifications & Entry Requirements Minimum of GCSE grades 4 and above Maths & English Our roles are subject to national security vetting (BPSS) and applications are limited by place of birth and nationality as a result. Path to Completion Successful applicants will enrol at Hartlepool College of Further Education to start fulltime in September 2025. Overall the apprenticeship is a 42 month programme. At college you will study theory and practical elements in the college's purpose built Training Facility to give you the basic skills to set you on a path to success. Depending on progress you will transfer to Wilton Engineering's Training Academy while continuing day release at college. Normally this would be after 5-8 months. Thereafter you will complete a 20 week programme within the Wilton Training Academy. There you will develop your fabrication skills further and learn techniques specific to our customer requirements on one of the current most advanced fabrication projects. We will give you support throughout this programme, once 20 weeks are complete in the academy you will be transferred to production where you will gradually be introduced to live projects to enable you to put your skills to the test. Additional Training We want to ensure you have all the tools to not only complete your apprenticeship but gain employment with us in your chosen trade. Within the environment you work health and safety is paramount. You will be trained in many areas ranging from manual handling, the correct use of PPE, Working at Height, Working in Confined Space and more. You will also be trained to operate specialist equipment such as Welding Equipment, Overhead Cranes, Mobile Elevated Platforms and specialist inspection equipment. After Your Apprenticeship Completing an apprenticeship with Wilton means you have shown you are capable of working at an excellent standard. This is a first step on the path to a career in your chosen trade. that in itself is a great achievement and we will work with you to develop your skills throughout your employment. Whether this is in your trade as a highly skilled craftsperson or progressing into other areas such as: Quality Control/Inspection Construction Supervision/Management Planning & Project Controls Health & Safety Engineering and More. Hours of Work Your contract of employment will be for 37.5 hours per week. Once on site at Wilton Engineering your hours of work are Monday- Friday 7am-3pm. While fulltime at Hartlepool College your ours will be scheduled around lessons and workshop sessions. Rate of Pay During your 6 month probationary period and fulltime secondment to Hartlepool College your rate of pay shall be £7.55 per hour (£14,722 per annum). Thereafter following annual reviews: £12.13 (£23,653.50 per annum) - post satisfactory completion of probationary period £15.12 (£29,494per annum) £17.98 (£35,061 per annum) Post completion of apprenticeship providing you have met the standard required to be employed as a plater on our projects the rate of pay will be £21.80 per hour (£42,510 per annum).
