We have a great opportunity for an Operations Manager to oversee major renewable EPC projects across the UK. We design, install, commission and operate large scale solar PV farms for our clients. Supplying renewable energy from solar power plants enables local communities to reduce costs and reduce their carbon footprint.
Alongside our solar farm projects we are involved in delivering a wide range of energy solutions to secure a more sustainable future.
Please note that when working away from home you will be provided with hotel accommodation and additional expenses whilst working away from home. The postholder will also have access to a company vehicle.
Key Activities:
1. Leading the team of Senior project managers, project managers and site based staff on multiple projects (10+ at range of £5 -£40m valve each)
2. Maintaining & building the team to deliver a growing number of solar & Bess projects
3. Create and execute project delivery plans / programmes with assistance of planner and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
4. Manage construction with responsibility for Health & Safety compliance at all levels
5. Manage day-to-day operational aspects of the projects
6. Manage the costs in line within the agreed budget, seeking to ensure that operational efficiencies are attained where possible
7. Ensure that staff and subcontractors are working in accordance with UK standards, legislation and Safe Systems of Work.
8. Maintain relationships with key clients and suppliers
9. Produce site survey reports for new projects in development
10. Collaboration with the design, quality, procurement and commercial teams
11. Effectively apply company policies and procedures, methodologies and enforce standards
12. Ensure construction documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
13. Facilitate team and client meetings effectively
14. Inspire and motivate the team to be part of Net Zero Carbon journey, encouraging creativity and challenge to make things better and more efficient
15. Support the Energy Construction Director in delivering business strategy, building the team, delivering projects and driving excellent team performance and client satisfaction
16. Ensure that energy team members have all the necessary skills, support, mentoring and equipment to consistently do an excellent job
Skills, qualifications & experience:
17. Previous senior project management or operational management experience within utility-scale ground mounted solar PV industry
18. Experience in reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes
19. Previous exposure to H&S, budget and programme responsibility
20. Qualified at HNC level; relevant industry training (SMSTS, CDM, IOSH)
21. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal with client, supply chain and employees
22. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to multi-task
23. Flexible approach to working, willing to travel; full driving licence
